Only have an out-of-state ID? That alone does not make you ineligible to register. It means Utah's online system may not be the right route. The paper form has options for people without a Utah license or ID. Utah's citizenship, age, and residency requirements still apply.

    In-person early voting starts. Dates, hours, and locations vary by county.

    Regular registration deadline

    Your county clerk must receive your registration by this time.

    Mail ballot request deadline

    Last day to request a ballot, with separate rules for military and overseas voters.

    In-person voting is available at designated voting locations.

Missed October 23? Eligible voters can register in person at an early voting or Election Day location and vote provisionally. Utah requires two acceptable forms of identification for this process: one for identity and one for residence. Review Utah's ID requirements ↗

How do I know if I'm already registered?

Do I need a Utah ID to register?

No. A valid Utah driver license or state ID is required for the online system. Without one, you can use the paper form ↗ or ask your county clerk for help.

What if I only have an out-of-state ID?

You may still be eligible to register. Use Utah's paper form or ask your county clerk what information to provide. An out-of-state ID alone does not decide your eligibility.

Can I update my address online?

Yes, if you can use the online system. For a fully online submission, your address must match the Driver License Division record. If it doesn't, the official portal ↗ explains how to update that record or print and mail your form.

What if I miss the October 23 deadline?

Eligible voters can register in person during early voting or on Election Day and vote provisionally. Bring two acceptable forms of ID, one for identity and one for residence. See Utah's ID requirements ↗.

How long does online registration take?

Utah says less than five minutes. Have your valid Utah driver license or state ID ready.
